SAVE THE DATES! Our 2013 dates are picked for the Mobile Food Rodeo and we can’t think of a better way for Seattle to spend your Cinco De Mayo weekend in Seattle with 40 food trucks in the “Center of the Universe” (Fremont) for the largest food truck festival in the United States.
Last year, Fremont played host to the Mobile Food Rodeo in May, packed with a beer garden, live music, and over 35 food trucks nestled between some of the best restaurants and bars, plus the Fremont Sunday Market with over 200 craft and antique vendors.
This year’s festivities will continue to showcase the “Best of the Northwest” with a new local craft beer garden, paired to the cuisine of participating food trucks. There will be a Taco Truck showcase for the Cinco De Mayo crowd matched with live music and tequila bar thsi year as well.
Sound too good already? In the last year, we have received a great deal of feedback on what you, the hungry foodie would like to see this year from smaller portion sizes, limited menus, faster lines and cheaper prices that allow for you to sample from about 4-5 trucks and offer with trucks offering signature dishes to choose from. So stayed tune for more updates on how you can join us this May.
We have been working the food trucks to find ways to help streamline the experience for both sides, helping attendees to navigate through the menus and eat from more food trucks to experience the best in street food trucks in Seattle annually.
So why not a two day festival? In an effort to keep the masses well fed throughout the year, the Mobile Food Rodeo is proud to announce that we are launching a larger street food festival this year, the 1st annual Seattle Street Food Festival that will debut this August 17th-18th packed with over 50 food vendors showcasing food trucks, carts, booths and yes, even our new “pop-up” dining experience by local chefs at some of your favorite restaurants. Location will be announced in February for the new festival.
What’s more, this year’s Seattle Street Food Festival will also include the first ever, Grilled Cheese Grand Prix open to the general public where local participants can submit their own cheesy recipes to be judged for the ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich showdown. Applications will go live on March 1st, 2013 for the Grilled Cheese showdown. Go to our Facebook page for news and updates.
Organizer & Founder Ryan Reiter says “My family has been deeply invested in Fremont for over 23 years, starting the Fremont Sunday Market, Outdoor Movies and the Zombie walk simply because it offers a great community of small businesses that share and support the entrepreneurial spirit year round”.
The Fremont community is well known for it’s quirky, playful artistic spirit and city festivals like the Fremont Fair and Fremont Oktoberfest, so it would seems fitting that Seattle’s most celebrated street food festival call Fremont Home now too.
