It’s been a long, few weeks since our last update about our plans for the 2012 events set to hit Seattle. This year, the Mobile Food Rodeo is moving from our 2011 site in Interbay to the quirky, “Center of the Universe” for our big kick-off spring event on Sunday, May 6th.
In a few short months, Fremont will be ground zero for the ultimate food lover’s paradise; discover and sample the culinary talents of the northwest’s emerging food truck culture in the heart of Fremont located outside Fremont Studios located near Theo’s Chocolate and Fremont Outdoor Movies located at 3501 Phinney Ave North.
Last year’s event was a big success helping to showcase and celebrate Seattle’s new mobile food truck culture with over 7,000 + people in attendance and over $65,000 spent among the 25 trucks and helping to raise money for local charity, Solid Ground. Expect over 30 local food trucks from Seattle sprinkled with a few out-of-towners from Portland and possibly even Idaho highlighted with live entertainment, beer garden, and fun activities for all ages with general admission free this year.
“April Showers, Bring May Flowers”
The Mobile Food Rodeo organizers decided to change the original date set for Saturday , April 28th to offer attedendees improved weather and suits the Fremont neighborhood with another annual tradition that has been home to similar popular festivals like the Fremont Fair, Oktoberfest and long-time institution, the Fremont Sunday Market.
Rodeo Organizer Ryan Reiter says “Be it outdoor movies or world record-breaking Zombie walks, Fremont has always offered our family of events a wonderful resonance within a community that believes in supporting and celebrating small businesses; so it just seems like a natural to bring this great event to one of our favorite hoods”.
This year also marks some major changes to the event, along with a great set of improvements from last year starting with free admission, additional sitting/eating areas, and our first ever charity beer garden and tasting garden that will go back to supporting a local charity within Fremont.
Final Details and truck line-up will be announced on April 1st. Stay tuned and catch all of our upcoming news on Twitter and Facebook.
