Market organizers are teaming up with the Mobile Food Rodeo in an effort to keep the winter months bustling at the popular Fremont market with the help of a highlighted street food district.
Jon Hegeman, market co-founder and organizer says “Food rules at the Sunday market, so why not make it a weekend destination for hungry foodies”.
This new pod offers local foodies a new weekend hang out at Seattle’s largest street market to shop, browse and snack all day long start once a month with hopes to make it a weekly featured activity.
“Our goal this year at the Mobile Food Rodeo is geared to expand our list of events in new communities; helping local food trucks find year round alternatives at popular events that have a built-in audience and cost effective; better supporting their business and making it convenient for locals to find their favorite trucks” says Ryan Reiter.
The Fremont Sunday Market attracts an estimated 9,000 people every weekend in the summer and almost 4-6,000 people in the winter months with street food being a popular staple for market-goers. The past two summers, it has hosted to the iconic steel pig aka Maximus Minimus with great appeal and great sales; helping to improve the west end traffic and the occasional photo shoot.
This winter food district will be held once a month as a special event until June. Market organizers hope to offer local food trucks a weekly location in the summer season.
